Australian National Day in Spring

On a rather warm but pleasant evening evening of the 26th March 2018, Australia celebrated its National day in spring commemorating 70 years of bilateral relationship with Pakistan. A truly remarkable occasion celebrated by Margaret Adamson the High Commissioner of Australia in Pakistan as she, her husband Marek Krol, Farrukh Ikram Honorary Consul General of Australia in Karachi as they formally greeted the guests at the Avari Towers Pool side entrance. ausie 2The evening started with a speech by the High Commissioner which exhibited her zeal, dynamism and the special place she holds in her heart for Pakistan. Commenting on several matters her focus was on mutual bilateral benefit. There was a retrospective photographic exhibition that was gracefully set up on the well lit walls. This was followed by a musical concert by an Australian alumnus Umer Iftikhar who entertained the guests with his soulful choice of songs.

Provincial Minister Jam Khan Shoro & Provincial Minister Mr. Saeed Ghani were chief guests for the evening as they graced the stage for the cake cutting ceremony. The evening glittered with elite from all walks of life including Ms. Ingrid Johanssen the Ambassador of Sweden in Pakistan, Consul General of Japan Toshikazu Isomura, Byram Avari Dr. Ikhtiar Baig, Ishtiaq Baig, Pervez Madraswala, Samir Mir Sheikh, Jam Qaim Ali, Aijaz Sheikh & Pir Aman of NBP, Khurram Afridi of Dawn Newspaper, Kamran Khawaja of Skillston Institute an affiliate of Australia, Zia Ispahani,  Kader Jaffar guests from Australia and other well known figures from business and political community. The first secretary Martin Hirst, the second Secretary (political) Hugh Lawson along with several others specially flew in from Islamabad to organize and attend this graceful event. The guests were treated to Australian inspired canapes that were lavishly served through out the evening.

We hope & pray that this growing interest in Pakistan continues and we see an increase in the bilateral trade, cultural exchange amongst other support from the
Australian Government.

  1. Pakistan is a home away from home for most valuable foriegners as our history, culture, people have a built in characteristic of Hospitality. Guests are blessings of All Mighty and treated to the fullest yet with honer and respect is our norm.
